Power of Books

for all you novel lovers out there

so i drew this for art class. (we had to choose an object and draw a realistic sketch of it, a visual design and an emotional expressive of it) this is the emotional expressive.

why? well because i love books! and when i read them the characters and scenes just seem to jump off the page.

the characters from left to right (starting from the top)

Harry Potter, Sleeping Beauty, (young)David Copperfield, Percy Jackson, Isabelle Lightwood, Dracula

Ralph, Nudge, Evra Von, Roger Parslow and Lyra Belacqua, Aragorn

Parasite and Cosmo Hill, the boy and man, Arnie Grape, and Bec McConn.

here are little notes about some of the characters so if you want to just skip look for the "***" and that means i'm done.

it's been so long since i've drawn Harry... like 3 years! he looks good though, despite lack of practice. although the wand magic looks weird :\

i only included sleeping beauty because i wanted to draw someone sleeping and i wanted more girls in it. so there.

David looks so cute! ^////^

i drew this before i read PJantO so Percy's eyes are blue instead of green and he has a lightning bolt instead of the Riptide other than that he's pretty good.

this wasn't going to Isabelle at first but then i decided it was... after i coloured it... so her eye and hair are the wrong colours -_-;;

Dracula is hiding from the light behind the page. i made him kind of look like Quincey Harker, but not too much...

Ralph is looking up at the sun. he turned out good too

i was going to draw Fang too but there was no room. although i love how her wings turned out and her face.

oh my god!! i absolutely adore how Evra turned out!! his hair and colours and snake! all great. definatly my favourite character in this

Roger and Lyra are looking at the compass in case your wondering. i drew Roger instead of Will for 2 reasons. 1 i like how i draw him more than how i draw Will and 2 because there would've been too many black haired characters if i used Will. Pan and Salcilia are not in this sorry...

Aragorn, not much to say about other then he's awesome and Viggo ROCKS!!

Cosmo's knocked out (although everyone thinks he's sleeping ) and the parasite is sucking the pain or whatever... they both turned out cute

THE BOY!!! i love love LOVE this character. i can't help it! it might be partilly because everytime i draw him he turns out cute and perfect!! second fave in this whole thing
the man... a great character also. the father of the boy if you didn't know... also played by Viggo in the movie (hence why he looks like Aragorn sort of)
they're lifting up (or putting down) a shopping cart.

Oh Arnie! how i love you, you little mentally challenged filthy boy ^-^ here instead of on a water tower he is dangling out of the book

finally(*listens as everyone sighs with relief*) Bec. she looks kind of guyish here T-T but her pose is slightly lady like in my opinion ^^ she looks at little unimpressed by the whole thing...

few little things before i go.

1 to spare further agony on those who have read all of this so far, i won't go into too much detail on the quotes. what i will say is that they all are quotes from different books and i tried my best to either put the quotes either next to characters from the same book or to something that matches it. if you wish to know where a quote came from, blah blah blah just ask.

the page was too big to scan so i took a picture. sadly it was a little crocked when i took the picture and i didn't notice till i fixed up the colours on the computer... so heye you get to see a bit of my beautiful kitchen table

finally i had only gotten this back today and am proud to say that my art teacher really liked it. so much so that she might use this and the other too pieces in a student art gallery thing in June.
